Meet our new friend, Emilia, a 7-year-old from the Rivno region in Ukraine. Her bravest of brave moms, Andzelina, brought Emilia to Warsaw to seek refuge after Russia attacked their country. Right before the war, Emilia had an eye surgery in Ukraine, and we are pleased to report Emilia is doing well. She was, however, in need of glasses before starting 1st grade. Thanks to continued generous contributions, Ukrainian Humanity Center was able to provide the much needed glasses, as well as school supplies and clothing.

Why walk when you can dance!? Angelika is making incredible progress. Her braces are as flowery as her personality. Her positive energy is infectious! She will begin physical therapy in a few weeks, which will require a specialized rehabilitation bike. UHC is working to provide the bike for her and every dollar helps - please consider making a contribution here. We are truly overjoyed at how quickly she is progressing and look forward to seeing even more dancing in her future!

With the support of a generous donation from a US-based dentist, we were able to add dental supplies to the list of support to the frontlines! In partnership with USA for UA, these much needed supplies including hemostatic wound treatments, chest seals, and now toothpaste and toothbrushes, have all shipped out to Ukraine. We know the need continues to be now! And UHC is committed to continuing this support, sending more supplies and partnering with fellow organizations to expand our impact.

Angelika's surgery was a success! She was born with a spinal deformation, making walking impossible. After falsely being promised help in Italy and traveling there, she and her mother traveled to Lodz with the help of a local foundation. The only thing her mother had to transport her was a baby stroller, despite her being a teenager. UHC helped to provide the funds necessary for a life altering procedure for Angelika. Her prognosis is good, and the doctors expect her to be walking (with some help and therapy) after her bilateral leg casts come off. This is another example of UHC working to positively impact one family at a time. We can't wait to see the progress!

The Easter gift boxes we sent to Ukrainian families and kids in Warsaw were a hit. It's the little things like this that help to brighten the lives of those displaced by the war. Miron didn't want to put the chocolate down! And a special thanks to Emily Dykstra for her gift to Masha!

UHC is breaking barriers and bridging the gap for Ukrainian moms and kids finding refuge in Warsaw. We know that language is a barrier to many parts of life in a new country, including employment, which is a key factor to success and survival after losing nearly everything in the war.
Joanna Millick, UHC Board VP, has been offering her time via Zoom every Sunday since January 2023, teaching English and Polish to groups of Ukrainian moms and teens in Warsaw. Joining together as a community to learn has also strengthened their confidence and their spirits. Joanna's sister, Ula Dziekanska, is in Warsaw and also has been teaching Polish to a Ukrainian family of four. We are happy to report that one of the moms has found reliable and rewarding work!
UHC will continue to face these challenges head-on and find solutions and provide support services. Thank you to all who joined in our mission!
The Zoom Sessions Begin - January 2023
