In the summer of 2023, the Ukrainian Humanity Center began sponsoring a summer camp adventure for 12-15 Ukrainian refugee children. Thank YOU to our dedicated supporters who helped to raise the funds to bring these kids such a special adventure! The kids range in age 9-14; all of them came to Poland after the Russian attack on Ukraine. To offer the kids the best and quality time, yet assuring their safety and comfort, we teamed up with TPD Oddział Mazowiecki in Warsaw, the oldest Polish organization helping children. We know that building friendships and being in community is vital for the kids and families. These faces are at the heart of our mission!
The kids had the best times swimming at Thermy Chocholow, followed by today’s 12 km/4.5 hr hike in Koscieliska Valley in the Tatra Mountains. A professional mountaineer guide provided lots of information about this special corner of Poland. Kids are exhausted but happy. Special thanks to our great team of instructors!
Ukrainian Humanity Center summer camp in Zakopane, Poland. The children took the cable car ride up to Kasprowy Wierch. After hiking in the Tatra Mountains, there was time for ice cream and outdoor playground.
Day 9 of UHC Summer Camp brought more fun: playing sports and making pottery. Now, the children will have not only great memories but also their own mugs to take home. Finally, a true Polish vacation without roasting Polish kielbasa is unthinkable, and so the kids got to try some local home-made sausage generously offered by the hosts. Thank you!
Art and craft supplies from an incredibly generous donor, who knows the importance of art in children’s lives, made their way to our summer camp kids. Creating together brings us together!
